Here is a fantastic Recipe for candied pecans that I have been making for years and years, especially for holiday entertaining and gifts. Warning.... if you are making these sugar coated pecans for gifts, package them quickly before everyone eats them on you.
Candied or Sugar Pecan Ingredients & Instructions
1 pound pecan halves
1 egg white
1 teaspoon cold water
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
2.Beat egg white with water until fluffy.
3. Fold pecans into egg whites until well coated.
4. Mix cinnamon, sugar and salt together then fold coated pecans into the dry mixture.
Bake on a cookie sheet (with parchment paper) for 1 hour. Serve warm or once they are cool, they can be packaged for gifts. .
PS, if you choose to bake them on the sheet without parchment paper, that works, but even with no stick pans, these beauties will still make a mess and it is so much easier to clean up with the parchment paper.
