In New England, Fall Front Door Decorating Is Underway!

Well I finally got myself out the door to purchase some mums for our new house. I am certainly having fun seasonally decorating this home for the first time and seeing what works and what doesn't. For instance, the urns, and the faux pumpkins I spray painted, were from our previous home. I had one additional layer of pumpkins at the other home, but I felt the additional large pumpkin overwhelmed the portico. You can see my urns from last year (you can see that listed under fall) along with a DIY tutorial on making an oak leaf garland.

One thing I like to do, when purchasing plants, is look for perennials. I was very excited to find a local farmstead that was selling both annual and perennial mums, so I purchased annuals for all of our entrances, and then perennials that will be planted around the front of the home.

I still have a bit more to do, such as add corn stalks, and some containers for the mums, but I will get to that this weekend. Before I know it, it will be time to rearrange everything and decorate for Halloween. Oh I can’t wait for that!

When I posted the top photo on IG, I had several direct messages asking me about our Moravian star lights that we have hanging in our front hall. I scored them at an antique salvage shop in North Hampston, New Hampshire and I just had to purchase them since I had one in my previous home and have loved them for years. I feel they are such a statement piece, even during the day. I was able to find some online via one of our affiliate sites, at different price points, for anyone interested.
