A whale of a time using whale art

It goes unsaid that home owners who live in New England States, especially those who live near the ocean, showcase more whales in and on their homes than their land-locked sister state Vermont.

Below is a collection of photos I have taken during my travels around New England or that I have found online.

whale painted board front foyer.jpg

This board, that was washed ashore, was painted with a black whale. It was hanging over our front door and will be hung somewhere prominent in our next home.  When I took down the board to pack away, I found a written note on the back, by the artisan, explaining that the board was found and it stated I had just adopted a whale named Roxie.  I totally forgot it said that.

While driving through the cape in December, this home stopped me in my tracks. I loved the carved whale over the yellow front door.

whale weathervane falmouth ma .jpg

While walking around Falmouth, I passed by this home on my way to the ocean. The whale weathervane set against the bright blue sky stood out and made such a statement on this Cape Cod home.
